Happenings {this week March 11 - 17}

Thursday

Iran, a Williamsburg-based rock band made up of those guys you run into everywhere in the neighborhood all the time - who just happen to be some of the raddest musicians ever - plays the Knitting Factory Brooklyn. Fronted by Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio, Rainmaker) and Aaron Aites, it's a guaranteed good time. Arboretum, and War of Northern Aggression open.  9pm.
Knitting Factory Brooklyn, 361 Metropolitan Ave.  Doors 8pm. $10

Friday
There's no bad way to donate to the relief efforts in Haiti, but why not have an awesome time while you're doing it? The Arms Around Haiti benefit at Public Assembly has an amazing line up of bands, DJs, and one hilariously funny comedian/beatbox artist.  Check out their Facebook to see the full line up. The $10 (or more if you're feeling extra generous) cover gets donated to Doctors Without Borders, and Grand Bwa's relief trip to Haiti.  Help these guys reach their $10,000 goal!
Public Assembly, 70 N.6th Street.  8pm - 4am.  $10 min.

Saturday
New York Night Train's Soul Clap and Dance-off is celebrating it's 3rd Anniversary at The Glasslands, with DJs Jonathan Toubin and Ian Svenonius.  From 9 - 10pm there will be a Soul Record Fair/Swap followed at 11pm by the first dance contest, $100 prize. The $200 dance championship starts at 1am, featuring dance-off winners from the past three years.  Professional dance skills not necessary, just wear shoes that'll get you to 4am without missing a step.
The Glasslands, 289 Kent Street.  9pm - 4am. $5

Tuesday

Drink and dance with Soul Patrol at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn.  DJ's Erin (Sodafine) and Ilyane (Franny & Roey) will be spinning '60s soul and garage rock classics in the Front Room. Drink specials at the bar, girls in cute dresses dancing in the DJ booth, free admission... let's be honest, you'd be silly to miss this one. 10pm
Knitting Factory Brooklyn, 361 Metropolitan ave. 10pm - 2am. FREE.
