Happenings {this week Feb. 18 - 24}

Craft Book Signing
Graham Avenue boutique, Treehouse, is hosting a book signing event in their newly renovated space with Cal Patch of hodgepodge farm and Kayte Terry of this is love forever.  The authors/crafters will be signing copies of their books and giving crafty tips, and there will be wine and treats, too! Friday, February 19th 7:30 - 9:30pm.

The Sketchbook Project
303 Grand NYC launched last year as a revolving storefront for pop-up shops.  Starting this week they feature the Sketchbook Project.  They say:

Sketchbooks offers a glimpse into an artist's life, which is why we want to make a publicly accessible library of sketchbooks that people can browse, peruse, and check out. We think that this sketchbook collection has the potential to open a new line of communication between the artist and the viewer, since the experience of making and viewing are both so personal... Before joining our permanent collection, sketchbooks will be exhibited at select galleries across the US.

Exhibition Hours: Friday, February 19th 7 - 11pm, Saturday, February 20th 8 - 11pm, Sunday, February 21st 12 - 3pm.

Fuego Walk With Me

Sandwiched between a doctor's office and an empty storefront, Fuego 718 is literally a glowing beacon of light on a restaurant and bar heavy block of Grand Street. The incredibly unique, and seemingly infinite collection of items for sale, curated by Alex, the Barcelona-born shop owner, includes "el dia de lo muertos" artifacts, milagros from Italy, jewelry and accessories - all handcrafted by artisans and designers from all over the world.

Alex recently expanded the shop to house a gallery space, showcasing artists from around the world.  Currently on display is work by Michelle Cavigliano (Brooklyn), Laura Osorno (NYC), Johanna Wright (Portland), Mara Catalan (Madrid), Jimbo (NYC), and George Kocar (Ohio).  The show is on through February, and a new show goes up in March.

Can She Give You Fever?

Shake the winter chill with a twist, shout, and maybe a little mashed potato at Soul Patrol, the new dance party hosted by the owners of Sodafine and Franny & Roey. DJ's Erin WTF (sodafine) and Ilyane OMG (f&r) will be spinning scratchy LP's and 45's featuring 60's soul & garage rock, with a little doo-wop and be-bop mixed in. Soul Patrol has taken up residence at The Knitting Factory Brooklyn every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, and at the Woods bar every 2nd Wednesday of the month. Don't miss the next one, this Tuesday Feb. 16th at The Knitting Factory 10:30 p.m.!

p.s. Word has it, if you pick up one of their fliers at either venue you'll get a 10% discount on clothes when you present it at either shop. Drinks, dancing, and discounts... what more could you really want from a night out?
